Tour of Britain cycle event is coming through North Tyneside, Newcastle and Gateshead on Friday 12th September between approximately 12 - 3. Although it will be a thrilling event it may cause some disruption to parking and access to some Heritage Open Days events / tours. This year the event will take place over THURSDAY 11th - SUNDAY 14th SEPTEMBER and we aim to ensure that it is even more of a success than 2007! Over the weekend you will get a chance, free of charge, to step into the past and find out more about the 2000 years of history that has made the North East the vibrant place that it is today. The event booklets and website are available from 4th August, and pre-booking is available from 11th August 2008.
Tyne and Wear Heritage Open Days would like to thank the Northern Rock Foundation for recognising the importance of this event within the region and agreeing to support its development and promotion for another three years. The grant assistance from the Northern Rock Foundation will ensure the production of the excellent Tyne and Wear booklet and development of the Tyne and Wear website until 2009
